Katherine J. Espin, a.k.a. 'Kat,' is an actress and award winning director and editor. Her recent film, Pure Modern Love premiered June, 2022 after a successful year in film festivals. She continues to act and has been featured in many indie projects, such as a recent Feature Film, Living Life on the Edge as 'Melanie,' a cheerleader and best friend of the high school friend group, of which will be airing on PBS and released on Amazon Prime Video. You can also see her on The Red Orchid, Last Call and Cielito Lindo, all releasing in 2022.
She was born in San Juan, Argentina and moved with her immediate family to Houston, TX at the age of seven. She comes from Italian, Spanish, Jewish and Native Huarpe decent. She began her artistic journey at a young age by expressing herself through art, dance, singing and acting. She loved watching sci-fi films with her mother, and in the summers she enjoyed watching Turner Classic movies. This inspired her to begin her journey in filmmaking, while at the same time, pursuing an acting profession. She took film classes and acting courses at the Kingwood Lonestar College, and after graduation she auditioned and was accepted into The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood. She moved to L.A. and graduated in the summer of 2020. During that time she would also continue to create scenes and short films.
